It was a holy thing to see. Two angels falling from the high heavens Their once pearl wings blackened into ash Did they sin? Do they repine? Or did they walk a finer line? This was once a lush place to be Now a site of angels touching demons Indulging in a field of salt and dust Misbirthed flowers mourn their blissful whine As a kiss concedes their long decline Where burns the flame of two souls thriving There yearns the blood of two hearts grasping When sun wanes on this divinity Then love reigns in night's depravity Another night of two angels falling

I'm a student of philosophy and history currently in Tokyo, but originally from Ottawa. Much of my time is given to Doctoral studies, focusing on the history of romantic philosophy in Japan.

Sometimes, to help me think, I write short poems or prose pieces. I am also working on a fantasy novel, but I'm afraid that will be a long time coming.

Testing the Waters

Although I've been browsing this site for a few years now, I want to start contributing. I'm going to start posting some of my poems here, so please do comment! I first began dabbling in poetry when I was learning Latin in my undergrad. In class, we had to translate Latin poems into English and in my own time I was trying to write a few Latin poems of my own. Sadly, I cannot write in good meter to save a life. I still write poems in English when I find time and feeling, but I still struggle with the good composition. I know with practice I will improve, and with advice from others, I might improve faster.
